At Sphinx & Emeralds, every piece begins with material truth.

We select metals and stones not for trend, but for integrity — understanding that each carries distinct properties, longevity, and care requirements. Transparency is embedded in our process.

Precious Metals

.925 Sterling Silver

A solid precious metal composed of 92.5% pure silver, balanced for strength and durability. Sterling silver may naturally oxidize over time — a surface reaction that can be gently polished and restored.

Silver is designed to live with you. With proper care, it maintains its brilliance for years.

Gold-Plated Silver

Our gold-plated pieces are crafted from sterling silver and finished with a layer of gold.

Gold plating is not permanent. Over time — particularly with friction, moisture, or chemical exposure — the gold layer will gradually soften and fade. This is a natural characteristic of plated jewelry, not a defect.

Plated pieces are ideal for occasional or mindful wear.

Solid Gold

We offer 10K, 14K, 18K, and select custom 22K solid gold.

Solid gold does not fade or tarnish in the way plated metals can. It is inherently more durable and suitable for long-term, consistent wear.

Our solid gold pieces are made-to-order, allowing us to reduce excess production while maintaining quality control.

Stones & Setting

We work with a curated spectrum of stones — natural gemstones, lab-grown sapphires, and carefully selected alternatives — each clearly disclosed at purchase.

Natural stones carry inherent variation in color, inclusions, and structure. These characteristics are part of their individuality, not imperfections.

Lab-grown stones offer chemical and visual equivalence to mined counterparts, with greater accessibility and consistency.

Construction & Technique

Our pieces are crafted using traditional jewelry techniques adapted for modern wear.

Settings such as prong, bezel, and pavé are selected intentionally — balancing aesthetics with structural integrity. However, all fine jewelry requires mindful wear, particularly when stones are elevated or delicately set.

We do not over-engineer pieces to eliminate character. We design with intention and clarity.

Designed with Understanding

Fine jewelry is not indestructible.

Metal density, stone hardness, setting style, and wear frequency all influence longevity. We openly classify our pieces by wear type to guide expectations — not to limit beauty.

Craftsmanship is our responsibility. Care is a shared one.
